Dorking Loud & Proud Choir History

Loud and Proud was formed in April 2009 by an organisation known as Creative Communities to
provide easy access and affordable creative arts to residents in the Links community area of
Southern Dorking. However, over the years we have grown to attract members from further afield,
as far as Horsham, Reigate and Bookham.

As an inclusive group we do not hold auditions and welcome singers of all ages and abilities. Also, as
part of our ethos, we like to give back to the community via performances at local events including
nursing homes, social clubs and charities.

The choir has performed at major local venues through Choiroke at The Hawth in Crawley and
Dorking Halls and celebrated their 10-year anniversary in 2019 with an exclusive sold out concert in
the Martineau Hall.

Loud and Proud has developed over the years to be a self-funding community choir run by a
committee of volunteer choir members together with the Choir Manager and Choral Director.
The ethos of the choir is to open and accessible regardless of personal circumstances. If you are able
to contribute to our running costs we ask for a voluntary weekly donation of a maximum £5.
